“On the Doorstep of a 5G World” – 12:00 pm
Holiday Inn & Suites Charleston West, 400 Second Avenue, South Charleston, WV 25303
Do you remember when telephones looked like this? Well, those days are long gone.
Coming 5G technology promises to alter the nature of our digital experience.
The people of West Virginia continue to demand – at increasing levels – access to wireless products and services. This is demonstrated by the fact that there are nearly as many wireless devices in West Virginia as there are people. In addition, nearly half of West Virginia residents live in wireless-only households. These demands from the wireless industry’s customers – WV Citizens – require that wireless networks be both updated to meet the existing demand and readied for the next generation of wireless networks.
Specifically, the existing rules governing wireless networks are designed for wireless facilities that can be up to 200 feet or more. Tomorrow’s networks will rely on new small cell technology, often the size of a pizza box, which will be placed on structures such as utility poles and streetlights. These new networks need new rules and SB 3/HB 2005 establish an updated common sense framework to facilitate millions in new investment in West Virginia.
Join us on February 12 when AT&T’s Andy Fenney shares information on 5G ell phone technology and its importance for West Virginia and America. Reservations are due by Friday, February 8, and can be made by clicking here. The board of directors will meet following lunch.
